Moreland & Arbuckle

CD Review – blue barry

Smoky Mountain Blues Society

You must check out Moreland & Arbuckle’s “1861” CD it is just what you are looking for.  Here’s how; go to www.morelandarbuckle.com, or www.northernblues.com.  So we got that out of the way, now let’s talk about these guys.  They are 3 musicians  from Kansas.  Where?  That’s right Kansas.  Looks, and sounds, like the Delta just moved  closer to the Midwest.  These guys can really play.  From the opening track to the last one it is rocking.  I mean bluesing.  Hope that’s a word.  “Chainsaw” Moreland can play some great guitar, and Dustin Arbuckle can harp it with any of them out there.  The tone on Arbuckle’s harp is something to behold.  I mean it just honks like Godzilla coming out of Tokyo Bay.  They have slow ballads, slide pieces, great vocals, long tunes that you can wade into, just what you need.  I really like these guys.  They have been in the car for weeks now.  I would love to have a harp set up that sounds like this.  We have 12 cuts here, some over 6 minutes long.  Really well done stuff, with heart and soul.  They have what it takes.  Absolutely, I say go get this one.  Summer coming on, and blues coming on strong with it.  Great job men.  Thanks.  Your friend, blue barry
